IdeaRoast
An AI-powered critic that ruthlessly exposes the flaws in your startup ideas—teaching me how to spot weaknesses, challenge assumptions, and think like an investor.
Overview
IdeaRoast is a lightweight experiment I built to stretch my Next.js and AI integration skills. It lets users submit their "million-dollar idea," and the AI delivers a brutal critique—calling out everything from weak unit economics to competitive risks. It’s part business simulator, part comedy roast, and 100% learning exercise for me.
Beyond just a fun project, it’s a way for me to build, grow, and continually integrate AI into my development toolkit.

Insights
🤔
- Streaming AI ResponsesI learned how to implement real-time AI output streaming, making responses feel dynamic and conversational instead of static.
- User Experience & Feedback LoopsCrafting the tone of the critiques taught me how small UX decisions—like pacing, humor, or clarity—impact user engagement.
- AI as a Teaching ToolEven though it’s playful, IdeaRoast showed me how AI can be used to teach critical thinking and challenge assumptions, not just automate tasks.
